Fairygodboss founder Romy Newman will be joining us this year at The Bullish Conference! We can’t wait to hear from this badass business woman and learn more about tackling gender equality and making the workplace better for all. The Slay @ Work track is chalk full of inspirational role models like Romy.
Romy Newman is cofounder and president of Fairygodboss, a business with the mission is to improve the workplace for women everywhere. Before venturing into the crazy world of entrepreneurship, Romy ran digital advertising sales and operations at The Wall Street Journal, and also worked in marketing at Google and Estee Lauder. Romy studied american studies, literature and art at Yale and many more practical things at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern. Romy is a frequent contributor to Fortune, Huffington Post, and Inc. She is a proud mother of two, wife to a very supportive husband, devoted yogi and crossword puzzle lover. Romy has been lucky to have great workplace experiences, and she is motivated by helping other women find great careers and workplaces.
We caught up with Romy to ask about what she’s bringing to the conference. Check out the Q&A here:
Hi Romy! We’re so excited to welcome you to the Bullish Conference lineup! You are the co-founder of Fairygodboss, can you tell us a bit about your mission?
The Fairygodboss mission is to improve the workplace for women by creating transparency. We believe that women can help each other along — and cause employers to focus on making improvements – by anonymously and candidly sharing their at-work experiences.
Your workshop is called “How YOU can help create gender equality in the workplace…and advance your career at the same time”. Can you tell us a tiny bit about what to expect at BullCon17?
Workplace gender equality has been elusive for many years. Despite advances women have made, many studies show that the march toward true parity has slowed. While there are many things that companies or men can and should do differently, women can also do a lot to change our destiny: like helping each other, bragging more, asking for a raise more, and more. I’m hoping to get more women on board with our mission — and change their at-work behavior just a little to make more workplaces better for more women.
We at Bullish are all about the #ladybrag and we cannot wait for November! In the meantime, how can we stay in touch?
